concert log
this is where i document concerts i've been to — notes, photos, and more. unfortunately I don't have images from concerts i attended precovid so this will begin a few years after. eventually i would like to upload video i just don't know how to yet
Scaring The Hoes (Danny Brown and Jpegmafia)
this was the first post-covid concert that I went to, and it was a great one to come back with. fresh off the release of their joint album, scaring the hoes, danny brown and jpegmafia performed both songs from their recent album as well as form their respective solo work. they did have one opening act, named "starberry", a solo act who performed a mix of genres.

death grips
only two days later death grips was here at the same venue. there was no opener and they came on nearly two hours after the door opened, but played a longer set than spanned across their full discography. my favorite was definitely "black paint", which I had been hoping they'd play because I knew it'd go hard live.

fear
caught classic punk band fear at headliner, despite their age they still played a great, energetic show that I really enjoyed. local punk band deady was one opener, there was another but I don't remember what their name was

cannibal corpse, mayhem, gorguts, and blood incantation
The next concert, fittingly right before Halloween, was a stacked metal lineup with cannibal corpse and mayhem headlining, with gorguts and blood incantation opening. This was a really good show, all four bands were excellent. Mayhem was very theatrical and really lived up their namesake. Cannibal corpse is exactly what you'd expect, and I mean that ina good way.

iron and wine
Nearly a year went by between shows, but the next one I got out to was iron &wine. I wasn't sure what to expect going into this one since I'm mostly used to punk, metal or hip hop concerts and iron &wine makes very folky indie music. The experience was definitely different, a more relaxed crowd and it was more "artsy" I guess is the best way to describe it. That being said, I&w a long with his backing band were excellent live and I really enjoyed it

thursday
A week after iron &wine I saw Thursday. This show was at portal, a first of many for me. Opening acts included and acoustic set from Jim Ward of at the drive-in and sparta fame, then '68 which is fronted by Josh Scogin formerly of Norman Jean and the chariot. Both openers were excellent, but Thursday was on another level. This is probably my favorite concert I've ever been to, and is the one I'd pick to relive if I had the chance. Thursday was one of the first band I sorta "discovered" entirely on my own back around middle school, and they absolutely nailed every song. In addition they had one of the more passionate crowds I've seen, which made it more fun to be there.
